The first time we met Angel he was wired from driving straight through the night, from Sacramento to Utah, to arrive at the bike show early on Saturday morning. He had spent the past few years working as a bike messenger in Sacramento but had grown up on four wheels, skating his way through adolescence and home schooling. He was good too, becoming one of Sacramento premier young skaters but never deciding to push it to be anything more than a pass time.
When he wasn't at the local skate park he was watching skate videos and became interested making his own. His talent behind the camera was immediately apparent. In Angel's work you can see that his eye developed in world untethered to that of the traditional bike industry aesthetic. Calm and generous, Angel is the guy behind the camera that has helped share Squid Bikes with the world. Oh, and he shreds too.
